A gold medal for ACT I of Boston
Theater on Ice
Theater on Ice (TOI) is a team form of competitive figure skating that combines the grace of figure skating with the excitement of theater and dance. Teams consist of between 8 and 30 skaters representing different test levels and disciplines.
U.S. Figure Skating (USFS) is making an effort to standardize and promote TOI. It is already immensely popular in Europe, where it is known as Ballet on Ice. With over a dozen registered US teams, TOI is the next emerging frontier of competitive figure skating.
Theater on Ice teams compete in open regional competitions as well as international events. TOI programs are judged by registered USFS judges and are evaluated on technical merit and presentation with an emphasis on originality, costuming, artistry, and musicality.
